Northern Lights with extra cheese and jalpenos

On June 3rd, in theory at least, we head off to Iceland for ten days. (I say 'in theory' because we still haven't had confirmation from the travel company, although they've taken our money.)

We're splitting our time between Reykjavik and Akureyri, a town on the north coast which is the biggest settlement in the country outside Reykjavik and its suburbs.

On past experience, from visiting last year, there's going to be about one minute and 45 seconds of darkness each night in Reykjavik at this time of year - probably less in Akureyri, which is practically in the Arctic Circle.

However fear not, for there is a Domino's Pizza in Akureyri. We think it may be the most northerly in the world. Now here's a bizarre fact for you: Domino's in Iceland offer blue cheese as a topping. It doesn't work…

So, here's an offer from the roof of the world: I can't send you a pizza but I can send you a postcard. Anyone who wants a picture postcard sent to them from Iceland, assuming we actually get there, send an e-mail to the address in my profile with your postal address. Then start watching the letterbox…
